Grocery Shopping Uganda Style

Today we bought some goodies for the children at the orphanage in Luwafu.  220 pounds of rice.  $84.50. That’s $0.38 per pound.  Here is a spiritual challenge … How can I make an impact on the world, with two quarters?  Now you know how!

Dried Beans.  The Big red ones we purchase in the store at home …

220 pounds cost us $0.36 per pound.

Six dozen eggs… $5.50

10 quarts of cooking oil … $20

15 large heads of cabbage … $0.56 each

A half bushel of tomatoes … $2.81

A half bushel of onions … $5.50

12 pounds of sugar … $10.00

A half bushel of green peppers … $2.25

A half stalk, about 40 bananas … $2.00

A half bushel of carrots … $2.81

5 huge bunches of celery, $0.75

And finally,

10 pounds of really lean beef.  $20

And the butcher gave us another 10 pounds of bones to roast and cook with the vegetables, rice and beans for flavor … and to make soup from.  Yum!

You did this!  Each of you that supports Damascus Road with your gifts, your love and your prayers, made this happen today.  You did this!

Your love, prayers and financial sacrifices are truly making lives better.  Your faithfulness is the Gospel being lived out, each and every day.  With all the gratitude and thanks the Team of Damascus Road could offer, Thank You!  May God Bless you!

Luwafu Church

Oh what a day !!!

The house was packed at the Luwafu Church today.  My message was from Luke 16.  No one really likes preaching from that chapter.

It actually turned out to be more of a healing and deliverance message than I expected.  Lots of people were convicted about their lack of faith, and their selfish … self-centered natures.

The best part actually developed into a ministry team’s commitment to communicate, and to work together.  That was a HUGE blessing.  The only thing missing today … was YOU!
