Kasese, Uganda: School

In the Western Region of Uganda, in a town just north of Lake George, is Kasese. Kasese is the gateway to the beautiful landscapes of Queen Elizabeth National Park and Rwenzori National Park.

But despite the beauty of nature, there are countless people who live with nothing.  Kasese’s history was built on the backs of copper mining, but poverty still runs rampant despite the fact that the King has a palace nearby.

Near the mountains separating Kasese from the Republic of Congo, is the Kasese School-1, run by Pastor Samson. It is a very humbling experience for anyone who visits.  You are greeted with a countless smiling children, full of hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow.  Their love is electric as they reach out with hugs and laughter, even though there is not enough food for one meal per day. Their common meal generally consists of one serving per day, of rice, corn, or a mixture of the two.  There never seems to be enough.

Re-Imagine wishing for a better future but not having enough food to fill up your belly. Re-Imagine the absence of Malaria, Typhus, Cholera and Pneumonia, as clean water becomes the norm.

Even though we find these common problems as unbelievable, they are a reality for numerous third-world communities.  Without clean water, mosquito nets, and proper nutrition, there is little future for these predominantly orphan children.

Please consider financillay supporting and partnering with Damascus Road on the  Kasese School -1 project.  Our immediate Project Plans consisit of clothing, mosquito nets and bedding for the students.  Our near term plan begins with the installation of a community well for clean drinking water.  Long term, our desire is to plant crops and raising livestock.  Damasus Road also hopes to build a playground in the near future.

You can be a tremendous help as we prepare to gather and send the school supplies:  Uniforms, Shoes, School Supplies for the students and the teachers, and tolietry items.

You can designate your giving to this Damascus Road project, by denoting Kasese School-1
